Each year at the Abita Brewery, they craft a special dark ale for the holiday season. The recipe changes each year so that Abita Christmas Ale is always the perfect gift. Its spicy character is excellent with traditional holiday foods such as gingerbread or spiced nuts.
Their 2015 Christmas Ale is a light-colored, rye brown ale. It is brewed with a combination of pale, caramel, brown and rye malts. This malt combination gives the beer a light brown color and a sweet and malty flavor. It is hopped and dry hopped, with Centennial hops, for a pleasant aroma of citrus and pine. The brew is then fermented with American ale yeast, for a clean and crisp finish.
